Europe Sept 2019 - Oct 2019
We left our home on the Isle of Wight with back packs and took off for Europe.
Our Boat took us from Plymouth in England to Santander in Spain and there our story begins....

Madrid - Spain
The first stop of our European tour found us in Madrid. We found a 2000 year old Egyptian temple, The largest Royal Palace ever, we partook in a Tapas walking tour and found the exact centre of Spain.

Barcelona - Spain
The second stop on our European Tour found us in Barcelona.
We visited the Gothic Quarter, visited the fasinating Montjuic Cemetary, munched our way through the fabulous Mercat Josep, wandered through a self tour of Gaudi designed buildings and were left in awe by the truly amazing La Sagrada Famila.

Nice - France
After being caught up in a strike by transport workers and a 24 hour journey we finally made it to Nice. We are in a whole new country and ready to explore. From giant man made waterfalls to mosquito attacks and all that wine in between.

Genova - Italy
After leaving Nice we travelled to our 3rd Country of Italy. Genova being our first stop.
From the home of Columbus, Chinese food on park benches, Pirates and lots and lots of fish, our first stop is a memorable one.

Pisa - Italy
We travelled on to our new city inside Italy of Pisa.
We saw the leaning tower obviously but other sights included the fabulous Cathedral and Baptistery whilst we slept our nights away in a stunning medieval tower.

Florence - Italy
After leaving Pisa we hopped back on the train and landed in Florence (Firenze).
We immersed ourselves in the people and architecture enjoying hanging out with Michelangelo, Bartolini and Stradovari to name a few. David was worth the wait!!

Rome - Italy
We finally travelled to the capital of Italy, Rome. We spent 4 fabulous days exploring the beautiful city and all of the sights she has to offer.
From ancient ruins to vast monuments and everything in between.

Herculaneum - Italy
After a quick overnight in Naples we headed off to Herculaneum on the train.
In the shadow of Mount Vesuvius and a very eerie place to be sure.
Fascinating to see history literally being un covered.

Mount Versuvius - Italy
Climbing Mount Versuvius required a fair amount of effort but was totally worth it. Watching steam vent from an active volcano 1281 metres up reminds you that nature, not man, is in charge of this planet.

Pompeii - Italy
After our trip to the top of the world, we uncovered the secrets of Pompeii. The preservation of ancient history here is astounding with its 300 year old excavations.

Verona - Italy
'But soft! what light through yonder window breaks? It is the East and Juliet is the sun!.
On the trail of one of the tragic love stories we travelled to fair Verona.

Venice - Italy
The long awaited honeymoon destination from a lifetime ago. So excited to be back (and not as penniless newlyweds). We absorbed all the culture, food, music and people as we could and had a blast back in one of our favourite haunts.

Paris - France
Our final stop on our 28 day trip.
We had been before but this time was special... we had tickets for the Can-Can.... and we could.
From the Eiffel tower to the Louvre and all things Parisian in between....
