Stop 8 on our trip.

We have finally made it to Rome!

A life long dream has been realised and in no way did she disappoint.

Come and explore with us.

Piazza del Popolo

Finally exploring Rome and we began with a piazza that is unique is as much as it had a giant Egyptian obelisk in the centre and 2 identical churches at its edge. The 4 lion fountains were built in 1828.
In Rome there are 6000 fountains all of which you can drink from.

02

The Spanish Steps

Very large staircase... not gonna lie, too tired to climb but looked fab from the bottom.
Very impressive fountain at the bottom and a lovely church at the top.
Fill those water bottles now whilst you have chance!!

03

Fontana di Trevi

What can I say... just astounding. Truly spectacular. The fountain really feels like it grew here, right out of the building. Built in 1732.
They say that if you throw a coin in, it will bring luck, but our hotel owner says that every night they take upto €4000 out and it all goes towards helping keep Rome clean.
Very impressed by this and well worth a visit...

04

Ingresso Principale

Built in 1885 it is a beautiful, massive monument dedicated to the unification of Italy.

Volume Di Roma...

1800 year old Roman building discovered during demolition work during the 1930's. Street level then was 9 meters below current street level

06

An evening stroll

The whole of Rome is beautiful. At night it is beautiful, romantic and thought provoking. A stunning vista around every corner.

09, The Pantheon

07

Pantheon

So cool and the words basically mean Agrippa was ere.
They actually mean built by Agrippa.
So fantastic lit at night. No idea why they felt the need to build it so big!!!
It's the oldest , most intact, piece of Roman architecture in the world.

08

Colosseum

We have spent a very happy morning at The Colosseum. Can not explain the sheer magnitude of this place in time or history.
The whole Colosseum still has the aura of the mighty empire who built it.
Currently having lots of renovation done on the lower levels but still an absolutely fantastic place to visit.
Would come again and again even though it's a very gory history!!

Barcelona has a beach!!!

Hiding the other side of the marina is a large beach with amazing golden sand.

There are outdoor gyms and volleyball nets for all to enjoy.

Well worth a visit with plenty to do and food to eat along the promenade.

Catacomb S.Callisto

Very interesting trip down into the catacombe. Founded in the 3rd century and the resting place of Popes who were all moved and hidden in the 8th century to keep them safe.
Well worth a visit and very quiet.
Be prepared for steps... no lifts here.

17, The Circus Maximus

11

Circo Massimo

These ruins are the Circo Massimo chariot racing arena built in the 6th century BC and was the first and largest stadium built in Ancient Rome and is still used today. (Although the beast hunts have stopped!!) And in the 1980s they uncovered tiered seating and the starting gates but covered them up again to a depth of 9 m....

12

Roman Forum and Palatine Hill

Have spent a very happy morning mooching through the Roman Forum.
Completely in awe of the sheer size of the place and how much there is still left to discover.
You can feel the importance of the area as you wonder through.
Very worth a visit and would highly recommend.
