Verona Arena

A Roman amphitheatre built in 30 AD and one of the best preserved ancient structures of its kind. The arena holds 30,000 people and is stunning.

02

Shakespeare

Although he never visited Verona, He had a lot to say and write about the city and its people. He wrote Romeo and Juliet and The Two Gentleman of Verona about the city.

03

The Wall for the Broken Hearted.

The entry way to the Via Cappello has love note graffiti covering it and a gate holds 100's of pink locks in a mini version of the Post des Arts in Paris. Notes are answered by the Juliet club.

04

Juliets Balcony.

Within the walls of the courtyard on Via Cappello is the famous Juliets Balcony. From here Juliet called to her love Romeo. You can stand on the balcony for a fee. Well worth a visit.

05

Juliet.

Under her balcony is a statue of the lady herself.. strangely a local myth is that if you caress the statues breast then you will have good luck... all a bit odd for us...

06

Torre dei Lamberti.

Built in 1295 the tower is 84m tall and dominates the landscape. The tower has 2 bells, one signals fire, work times and the actual time and the other calls the population to arms. Very impressive.

Romeo

Our male role player is really mentioned very little in Verona but we were pointed towards his mythical house. It was strange following the trail of 2 characters from a play written by a man who never saw Verona.
